Once upon a time, when the world moved slowly and the word “global” was rarely used by national leaders let alone the general public, a community’s VISION could be written in stone. Today as the world’s economic systems wobble and technology moves with laser speed it’s wiser to view a community’s written VISION as a living document. A living document can respond to environmental changes quickly and positively. It can hold the dreams of many without bursting and is capable of growing with the citizens of the community. It is the only kind of vision that our region, packed with its own complexities, will be able to move forward…AND it is a document that YOU can write. Forward Texarkana hopes to serve as the steward of our community’s living VISION as we move into the 21st century and all it holds. We also hope that you will be a part of building that VISION.
As the FT board began to attempt to articulate a clear vision from the community we gathered the following documents for research.
It quickly became clear that Texarkana has, for many years, recognized a need for unified vision and have left written documentation. In order to get a robust perspective, FT members have spent many hours sifting through and compiling these previously documented “visions” and “goals”. To no one’s surprise they all say the same general things. The following links will take you to some of the main spheres of these findings.
